ENGISHU

WHAT A NAME

In days long gone by, the most conspicuous measure of African people’s wealth was Cattle. Although their cultures were incredibly diverse, a major communality of the socio-economic systems of our people was the rearing and reverence of herds of cattle.

  • Cattle were Currency
  • Cattle were Assets.
  • Cattle were a measure of Wealth.
  • Cattle were a store of Value.

Our ancestors would use cattle to settle duels, pay bride price, buy land, and as offerings to God. Cattle were worth going to war for. The word "Engishu" means "Cattle" in the Maasai Language.
The ilmurran, full-blooded young men who offered security to "Engishu" against predators and rustlers, were highly revered. These were the equivalent of modern-day insurance service providers.

Thus, Engishu Insurance. We are here to offer protection of your wealth - your ‘cattle’ - from unforeseen risks and unpredictable perils, through our well-curated insurance solutions.
