Workmen Injury Benefit Act (WIBA) Cover

The Workmen Injury Benefit Act (WIBA) Cover is a statutory insurance cover that is mandated by the Workmen Injury Benefit Act of 2007. This policy covers an employer against legal liability should their employees get accidental bodily injury, disablement, death or occupational illness in the course of their work. The WIBA act stipulates that claims are admissible only if the employees get involved in an accident whilst on duty and are engaged in the execution of your business and/or any project undertaken by the employer.

Scope of Cover

  • Accidental Death – Upto a maximum of 96 Months earnings
  • Permanent Total Disability - Upto a maximum of 96 Months earnings
  • Temporary Total Disability - Upto a maximum of 52 weeks earnings.
  • Medical Expenses - up to Kshs. 100,00/- per employee. However, the insured may opt for a higher limit.
  • Funeral/Last expense cover -  up to Kshs. 30,00/- per employee. However, the insured may opt for a higher limit.

Extensions

The standard WIBA cover can be extended to apply around the clock, i.e. 24hrs, as opposed to only when the employees are at work.
